„Nur gemeinsam werden wir gerettet.“
„Nur gemeinsam werden wir gerettet“. Dies mag wie ein Slogan klingen, aber es ist der Ausgangspunkt des Dialogs von Christen und Sozialisten, der eine doppelte Bedeutung hat. Es bedeutet, dass es etwas gibt, wovor wir gerettet werden müssen, und es heißt, dass dies nur durch eine gemeinsame Anstrengung möglich ist.Dieser Ausgangspunkt unserer gemeinsamen Bemühungen war von Anfang an in unserem Dialog zwischen Vertretern der katholischen Welt und Vertretern der vielfältigen Welt des Sozialismus, insbesondere der europäischen Linken, präsent. Es ist ebenfalls ein Dialog, der mit einer direkten Einladung von Papst Franziskus verbunden war. Wir sind uns sehr wohl bewusst, dass es sich bei Christen und Sozialisten um zwei Welten handelt, die in den letzten zweihundert Jahren auf der öffentlichen Bühne weitgehend verfeindet waren und in bestimmten Fragen immer noch recht weit voneinander entfernt sind. Aber da das Überleben der Menschheit und die Zukunft der Erde auf dem Spiel stehen, ist die Notwendigkeit eines authentischen Dialogs und Handelns mit allen Menschen guten Willens heute dringender denn je.

Die folgenden Auszüge aus einem Aufruf von DIALOP zu der Konferenz „Hope in rough times: Challenges in politics, environment and economy“ im Oktober 2025 machen die Ziele und leitenden Grundgedanken des Projekts DIALOP deutlich:
“Primarily, everybody lives in the future, because they strive, past things only come later, and as yet genuine present is almost never there at all. The future dimension contains what is feared or what is hoped for; as regards human intention, that is, when it is not thwarted, it contains only what is hoped for.:”

In front of the turmoil, the civil mass killings generated by the present wars, the aggressive overturning of law order in the USA and in many countries in the world, the trampling of peoples‘ rights with the feet of disdain, money and weapons, the war rhetoric of the neoliberal countries, we must draw deeper into the well of our humanity.
Our buckets will be the experience of our past conflicts and mistrust, but also our togetherness, our common achievements, our visions, our trust and hopes. Hope. Maybe there is an utopia in sight, also in our century. Let’s build it together!
Grabbing in our heritage on the Marxist and Christian side, we want to bring out the deep reasons for struggle and new commitment to strengthen democracy and peace. Ernst Bloch with his “principle of hope” and Pope Francis with his call for a holy year of hope, but also Hans Jonas and Albert Camus, can convey knowledge and the spirit they painfully achieved along their ways. Yet, actual questions need actual answers. We must commit ourselves on the academic field, in politics and activism, according to our experiences and the request of our different cultures and countries.
